SEBASTIEN GRAINGER: The breakup of Death From Above 1979 sent vocalist/drummer Sebastien Grainger in a high-energy rock direction with his band The Mountains. THE BURNING HELL: More wonderful wackiness from Peterborough. A mini folk orchestra fronted on ukele and vocals by Mathias Kom. The band's latest CD, Baby, offers up Kom's demented vision of life. He gets a big nod for writing a song about our own Wax Mannequin. Wednesday at the Pepper Jack Cafe. Wax Mannequin and Construction Deconstruction open. 10 p.m. $8
DAVE GUNNING: Another great Cape Breton songwriter following in the footsteps of Nashville hit machine Gordie Sampson. Gunning won two awards, including male solo album of the year, at the 2008 East Coast Music Awards. He performs tomorrow night, 8 p.m., at Hamilton Place Studio Theatre. Tickets are $25 at Copps Coliseum box office, ticketmaster.ca and 905-527-7666.
