Eco-tourism :  Turks and Caicos

These quiet, flat islands are a scuba and snorkellers' paradise. They have the third largest coral reef system and 230 miles white sand beaches, making them a premier beach destination. The terrain varies from sand dunes to lush green vegetation. The eight inhabited islands include Providenciales (or Provo), Grand Turk. South Caicos, Middle Caicos, Parrot Cay and Pine Cay. Provo is the main tourist island, with a range of hotels and spas, most of them on the beach. Native dishes such as fresh fish and peas and rice are served along with international cuisine at most restaurants. Casual, rustic accommodations can be found on the other islands, which are best for ecotourism and adventure seekers.
