Eco-tourism  : Belize (the Cays)

A short flight from Belize City will take you to one of the Cays, popular destinations for divers and snorkellers, particularly Ambergris Cay, Lighthouse Reef and Glover's Reef. Belize is on the world's second largest barrier reef, so adventures include kayaking, sailing and fishing. It's excellent for birders too. You can also sign up for organized Mayan ruin tours on the mainland. For example, the Lamanai ruins are within a tropical rainforest in central Belize.
