Eco-tourism : Saba
This is the hilliest little island you can imagine! It was created by volcanoes, and everything seems to be built on a slope. Don't come for the beaches - there aren't any. But there are charming people and pretty local architecture in four tiny villages, and some great rain forest hiking. Very safe, very Dutch and friendly, popular with eco-lovers and divers. There's a marine park, but it's best for advanced divers, not snorkellers (almost everything is too deep). Saba is for those seeking a peaceful and secluded haven, not a "touristy" feel. A great choice for a quiet honeymoon. |
